NewsScope for June 26, 2000 by WolfStar Neptune's War Cycle This week Congress will likely approve a $1.3 billion military aid package to fight Colombia's cocaine traffic. Meanwhile, Colombia's decades-long civil war is being funded by American cocaine users, with both right-wing paramilitaries and left-wing guerrillas sharing in the profits. The aid package is the first slice of an open-ended campaign, and significantly changes the American role from diplomatic and covert assistance to a military operation. The arrival of Saturn in the U.S. seventh house of open enemies marks a 30-year war cycle in American history. Previously, the war in Vietnam was at a climax when Saturn was last in this house. American involvement in World War II began when Saturn was previously here. Then Neptune, which rules, oil, drugs, and scandal, is now conjunct the U.S. Lunar Node axis, and squaring the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. This angular influence is shaping the current political landscape with Neptunian symbolism, ranging from gasoline price gouging in the Midwest, to campaign finance fraud (Al Gore's Buddhist temple; George Bush's $1.5 million from top oil companies), to the Pentagon's intervention in Colombia's drug war. Because Neptune squares the war planet Mars in the U.S. horoscope, Neptune's hard aspects to the U.S. Ascendant have historically coincided with major American wars. The Vietnam War began on Kennedy's watch when Neptune was conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. America's entry into World War I began as Neptune was squaring the U.S. Ascendant. Neptune shows that military aid to Colombia is far more insidious that media reports currently indicate. Amazon To Deliver Harry Potter IV On July 8 the fourth book in the popular Harry Potter series will be released, creating a consumer frenzy not seen since the launch of Windows 95. The enchanting fantasy series has sold 37 million books worldwide, and Spielberg wants to make the movie. Last Thursday author J.K. Rowling received an honorary doctorate for helping millions of readers rediscover "the pure joy of reading." Astrologically, the release date corresponds to a prominent Mercury, and reflects the keen interest in Harry Potter's adventures in wizardry. Mercury, the natural ruler of books, is transiting across the U.S. Sun, essentially putting the national spotlight (Sun) on an important document (Mercury). The U.S. Mercury is simultaneously being activated by Venus (who loves books), while Jupiter, the planet associated with big publishing deals, has just entered Gemini, the sign governed by Mercury. Mercury is still retrograde on July 8, and so we can expect some snafus in delivering the goods. Amazon.com has initiated a distribution system worthy of a full scale military operation: 250,000 pre-ordered copies will go out on that day with the assistance of 100 FedEx flights, 9,000 delivery personnel, and trucks from more than 700 sites around the nation. Last Friday Amazon's stock plunged some 20 percent following negative reports from analysts. Mercury turned retrograde on that day, and was exactly conjunct Amazon's Ascendant from its first trade horoscope (set for May 15, 1997; 9:30 am; NYC). We can expect that with a successful delivery Amazon will prove itself and regain investor confidence by the time Mercury turns direct on July 17. Blue Moon Eclipse over The Royal Family On July 1, 2000 (3:20 pm EDT) the first of three eclipses in the month of July arrives. This Solar Eclipse will be energized by a near exact conjunction with Mars, and further empowered by a close aspect to Pluto. While the geopolitical impact of this astrological event will likely be immense, the celestial location happens to align with Princess Di's Sun in Cancer. Diana's Moon Goddess charm, startling blue eyes, and brilliant smile live on in her son, Prince William, who celebrated his 18th birthday last week (born June 21, 1982; 9:03 pm; London, UK). With both his Sun and Moon in Cancer, Prince William is shaped by family matters, and especially his mother. The Sun exactly trine to Jupiter at the Midheaven portrays his royal standing, along with the inherited fame, fortune, and destiny. By turning 18 under British law William is no longer protected from the ferocious paparazzi. Mostly, the pack of photographers and tabloid journalists are following his love interests, which due to his very romantic Venus-Neptune placement, is bound to be interesting and provocative. Venus resides in the 5th house of recreational sex, and is closely aspecting Neptune near his Ascendant, giving him a dreamy, glamorous appeal. The July 1 Solar Eclipse also strikes at the foundation of the UK horoscope, indicating that the Royal Family is in upheaval. The entire cast of royal characters is fading into 21st century irrelevance, and hopes are high that William will soon settle down and have 2.4 children. Reader feedback is welcome.
